The Mill Barns

Completely destroyed by fire in May 2015, the former Mill Hotel in Alveley featured a historic 16th century flour mill and had been operating as a wedding venue with accommodation in more recent times. The derelict site was purchased by Ensarb Ltd on 14th July 2015.

Ensarb Ltd intend to re-develop the site by erecting an impressive timber framed hotel and wedding/hospitality venue with guest accommodation block and three guest lodges, formation of car parking areas, terraced areas, footbridges, “live” roof and water features all designed to make the most of this beautiful site with its tranquil gardens and mature trees in the heart of the Shropshire countryside.

Having successfully transformed a derelict farm and a sadly neglected Victorian country house into two very successful, award-winning wedding venues in the past eight years, Ensarb Limited are no strangers to working on challenging projects and look forward to bringing the site back into use as a wedding venue with accommodation. They intend to carry out the roles of client and principal contractor in house by organising the development work themselves, placing orders with specialist contractors who will be employed to carry out the individual elements of the construction works such as timber frame, roofing works, internal finishes, etc.

Construction work on the project started in May 2016 and is planned to be completed by Spring/Summer 2017. JPP (CDM) Ltd have been employed by Ensarb Ltd to give advice to the project team on the requirements of the CDM Regulations and construction health and safety issues generally.

Client services provided by JPP (CDM) Ltd included the preparation of a pre-construction information package for issue to potential contractors and a health and safety file with provision for an operating and maintenance manual which will be developed as the construction works progress and will assist with the operation, maintenance and any future development of the completed building.

Principal contractor services carried out by JPP (CDM) Ltd included the preparation of the construction phase health and safety plan for the site with associated documents, site rules, site induction forms, emergency information, risk assessments and method statements, etc. Advising on the competence and resources of contractors and carrying out site safety audits.
